Okay, so not too long ago someone on here posted a story/article about doing HIT on the treadmill. Instead of running for an endless amount of time, you do short burst of sprints. The article stated something along the lines of,  you sprint for a short period of time and then take a small breathers on the side of the treadmill. It sounded so much more appealing than jogging at an average speed, for a longer amount of time, so I gave it a go after my fitness class.

Let me tell you, I made a complete fool of myself. There has to be some special technique to gracefully transition to the sides of the treadmill, because my legs were flailing everywhere when I attempted. I almost fell smack on my face, and looks on the runners next to me were priceless. I couldn’t help but laugh at myself.  Is there a proper way to do this?

Side note:  So I generally don’t run on the treadmill,  I know shocker, especially after you read my predicament above, but have you ever experienced someone  try to one-up you, while jogging on the treadmill? I will admit that I like to compete with the person next to me, either trying to keep up or run a tad faster than them, but a girl next to me was blatantly trying to outrun me. She clearly kept  watch at how fast I was going, and every time I would increase my speed, she would too. Maybe I’m looking too much into this.

    2. misofull answered: You hold on to the sides of the treadmill, lift your self up and then lower your feet down so that they are off the band of the treadmill:)
    3. anikolaef answered: Dont jump to the side. Run for two mins and then lower speed for a minute or so to catch your breath, then speed it up again :)
    4. artandwords answered: LOL! I’m sorry, that was really funny. When I do HIIT, I transition by grabbing both sides/lifting myself up then jump both feet out.
    5. bitch-cat answered: LOL. I would have smacked her. And try using the rails on the side to lift yourself up and then swing your feet to the sides.
